I am about 35% done with the quilting of my small rescue quilt. It's a good practice piece for free motion quilting. Today I finally wrote a blog post about my drawing 'let Freedom ring' see the link to my website in my profile. #quilt #improvisedquilting #freemotionquilting #blogpost #letfreedomring
The one thing that struck me once we had power back last week was how dark it was at night. We have very little light in our bedroom, an alarm that has a blue light, a Roomba which has a green charging light, a speck of light from the smoke alarm plus my watch when my right arm moves with a big swing. Despite that you can still see distinct shadows. Last week for the 4 nights we had no power, once we turned off the headlights we were using to read, it was complete darkness😲 apart from the occasional flash from my watch. This was my attempt at remembering that. #powercut #darkness #light #txwinterstorm2021 #gouache #gouachepainting #poscapens #lumierepaints
Now things are almost back to normal (still having to boil water) I decided to kickstart a new cycle by quilting the last 2 quilt tops from 2020. Gordon's clamps came in handy for stretching the backing. #quilt #quilting #quilttop #preparation All the quilts I have made in the last 2 years were fully utilised during our recent adventure. After this I can get on with new projects and explore more ideas.
Don't normally post these types of pictures on this account but as I have basically been unable to do much this week, I thought I would make an exception. The big freeze started last Thursday with the snow arriving Saturday night. Early Monday morning the power went out, while we were sleeping 😌. We were fortunate as we had a brief respite on Monday evening, enough to cook dinner and then the power was out until early Wednesday morning. Water went out Monday night and returned yesterday. Apart from some guttering coming awayfrom the wall, we have escaped any serious damage, although we haven't tried the washing machine yet! Some of our neighbors still don't have power😢 or water.
Haven't been in my art room for days apart from the odd 30 mins. Too cool as TX houses are not built for this sort of weather. House is now fully prepared for the next couple of days for the weather with extra curtains, water in the bathtub in case of water mains burst, and doing our best to conserve energy. Back tour normal temperatures next weekend 😊 #notyournormaltxwinter #snow #arcticblast #freezingcold❄️ temp in F = -10c.
Finally finished this drawing. Must admit I got a little bored with for few days which is why I took so long to do it. Does that happen to you? The images relate to Kamala Harris The lotus flower and the Durga Goddess relates to her name's in Hindi. The world map has gold dots to mark the number of countries that have had an elected female leader since the 1940. This does not include the USA. #worldmap #durga #kamlaharris #lotus #tiger #holbeinartistsgouache #gouache #watercolour #sharpie #sharpiefinepoint #lumierepaints #sketchbook
